im an idiot?

sorry i let you down i did say its to late but hey who cares i have adopted a new way of playing and its good. or maybe certain people dont see it that way.
my confidence going into tonight was very high which is good for the team but i did say its too late i'd been out with the pool and personally i feel we are beating ourselves.
i always say or try to say what i think and i think tonight i have been made to look like an idiot and why does sean never get a game? religously he comes every week

No Trev u r not an idiot mate - you of all people know how difficult it is picking players - we had 11 team members last night so 2 were always going to be disappointed, last night it was Matt and Sean. Ok Matt played the previous week but Sean has missed out last 2 matches so am sure he will feature next time.

Nick picked the players for each leg based upon what he thought would give us the best chance of victory and we unfortunately just missed out. No-one is to blame - i said on Sunday that your new stance was improving your darts so keep at it - most people's darts start to stray after several beers - mine stray whether I am sober or drunk and I really need to sort it out once "game on" is called !!

Personally I would not have picked myself last night based upon the utter crap performances I put in over the last few weeks, nevertheless i am glad that i scraped a win - maybe that will be the catalyst for me to regain my confidence??

I hope most of the team will turn up next week for practice and let's see what we can do.... so keep your head up

Now put yourself in my position. 4-4 last leg with the arrows, 3 players left Yourself, Sean and Matt. Matt played last week at clifton miners welfare, you did and sean didn't.

realistically bearing this in mind the last leg was going to be between you and Sean.

My role a captain is to field the strongest team possible to win Matches. Bearing this in mind i'll ask the question who would you have played?

I know you'll respond by saying that you had had a few whilst at the Nelson watching Sean and Tedge in the singles competition.


Wednesday night is Darts Night! Not pool! So if you turn up on a Wednesday night, Darts must be your priority. Am I correct? I can understand that if you were involved in playing pool, that you may have needed a few beers to get into the zone. I have no problem with that.

The point that you feel that we are beating ourselves. Most players last night improved on their last weeks performance, or were just unlucky (Tedge on a finish and losing to a 148 check out) how can that be beating ourselves. A question were you in the frame of mind to play to your potential on the most important leg of the night? Judging by your reaction at the end of the leg I don't think so.

This season has been a lot more successful than last winter season with the same players (apart from the addition of Ringo and the loss of Scott and Dicannio). Last season we won 3 matches out of 18, so far this season won 5 from 11. We must be doing something right

Trev feel free to resume the role of captain, I was only doing it on a temporary basis any way!

On the point of Sean turning up every week and does not play up to last night he had played 8 out of 12 Matches (I would hardly call this never playing). the only players who have played More than him are Paul, Adam, Andy, Steve and yourself

I also spoke to both Sean and Matt after you had gone last night and let them know why I played you and not one of them.

It will be your decision who plays in the games in the future.

A very clear explanantion and a typically Statto-esque mathematical analysis Nick, even though it is unnecessary as you are Captain and we all signed up to play in the Team knowing that the squad was always going to be greater than 9.

Trev will be okay, he just hates losing (as we all do) and I would have been even worse if I had lost the deciding leg
You are doing a great job as Captain, Secretary, WebMeister etc and you need to carry on the good work.

This team is a great set of lads (as i have stated before on many occasions) and Wednesday nights should be about enjoying the sport of darts, socialising and where possible getting plenty of beer supped, plus a few jibes based upon performance (or lack of) where applicable - as long as they are meant/taken in the right spirit - we don't want any pi**ing contests.

Come on guys, keep plugging away and that next win will happen very soon.
